Folded Thought of the Day: The rites of passage have been circumvented by paths of least resistance. And the jackpot keeps growing, along with all the soon-to-be dissipated lofty dreams. What would I do?... What would I do?... Well, what are you doing there buddy? There's no ticket you can buy to win an honest and honorable life. But it is within all of our reaches to do so. And I can think of no more valuable thing to possess. It's a gift you can truly share with all those people you care about. I am blessed to have quite a few friends and family who, although struggling to find their ways in this world and also make ends meet, have a wealth of spirit that is a constant source for enrichment -- both in their lives and in the lives of the people they touch. Which is not to say that money is not a valuable thing in this world, I just believe that too many people view it as an end in itself -- that if you have a lot of it you're existence and "success" is somehow validated. It seems that instead of striving to live a good life in which you work hard to follow a meaningful path, we now strive to attain an enviable income bracket -- one that will allow us to surround ourselves with creature comforts which only serve to remove us further and further from our selves. The jackpot of life can rarely be found by standing on line. We all have a pots of gold waiting for us if we can find our paths in this world and are willing to do make the journey. As tempting as "an easy way out" might seem, just think about the meaning of that phrase. ------------------------
