Folded thought (ramblings) of the day: Here are some words to consider sent in by Darla. "Keep on letting your thoughts take you to new areas. As a society we have gotten to the point where we tend to discourage unique thought. In another time and place the man or woman who looked at life through a different lens would be celebrated. Today we seek to cure those who say what many of us think in our secret closets. Not everyone who is different needs the care of a mental health provider, perhaps if we learned to listen instead of judge we would grow." I think I'll file that one in the "couldn't say it better myself" category. And here's my little quote for you today: "Don't believe everything you read or hear. Even if it's true." Now, as this is Halloween weekend, I couldn't let you off the hook without listing some things that I personally find spooky. Martha Stewart is a billionaire. Starbucks. You and me and the thirty or so people I can see from where I sit are all looking at computer screens. I can see thirty people from where I sit. Donald Trump is running for president. Someone compared Below the Fold with the movie "Fight Club." Filming for the "Charlie's Angels" movie is imminent. Prozac and viagra are common terms. Last night someone asked me if I had a pager number. Eyebrows (especially Sam Donaldson's), Siegfried and Roy, how good the Yankees are, white guys who high-five each other, popular music, people who go to John Tesh concerts, rock stars who don't seem to age, daytime television, self-help books, people who use terms like "think outside the box" and "team player," big sweaters, chicken pot pie, the variety of eye glasses available, HMOs, old metal file cabinets, lost luggage, extenuating circumstances, the horrible misuse of the word "tolerance," go-getters, ironed shirts... Okay, I guess I should stop now. But I don't want to (grin, grin). Have a great Halloween and I'll be talking to you next week.
