Folded Thought of the Day: Are you resting assured?...in these nights of our new age. We're all on a midnight train, travelling through mountain ranges and desert forests, descending into the man-made caverns of reason and discipline. All of us waiting with ticket ready, to eagerly place into the conductor's hand -- our proof of purchase...that we bought it all from the get-go, from the moment we rolled out of the station. Watching in our covered comfort the day laborers returning home from their hole-digging efforts. A million miles under their belt and a million more to go. Just another day at the office. Covered in soot and debris, the whites of their eyes shining through this express trip to who knows where. Can you dig it? Or are you looking for some way around? The smart ones know they can't fight nature, so they sit back and enjoy the ride. It's those that feel the pang that you gotta be careful of -- they're the ones that will argue till they're blue in the mouth that all is right in the world...that we're on the right track. Cause they can't deal with the consequences of circumstance. Cause they're better than all this reality. Gotta love 'em. How comfortable can you really be sitting in a railroad apartment, following some pair of iron-willed tracks...with a pre-scripted destination? If you take a few moments and allow yourself to indulge in poetic imagination, you might just want to throw yourself from this moving machine. There's no place like home. Quoting the classics. Alleviating your degree of involvement. Yeah, well, snap out of it buddy. Just be thankful you're not piled in with them Boxcar Boys. Struggling for a little space to lay their heads. Wearing everything they own in the world. But you can't help but hear that song they keep singing and wonder if there's space for you to join in. Banding together, they can sure fill out the chorus. And there's a heckuva lot more laughter going on back there. At what point will you get tired of watching the scenery pass you by? ------------------------
