Folded Thought of the Day: Here comes the misdemeanor outlaw. Do you recognize his face? From the wanted posters?.. or perhaps from the odd passing.. Maybe you've heard his name before, spoken under somebody's breath. Or read about him. Riding into town. Whistling a spooky tune. Catching the wary eye. And so another chapter unfolds... a recurring theme. What's he going to do this time to save this local populace? How's he going to utilize his unique gift? This fellow who specializes in taking a beating, or getting himself good and mocked, or being seduced by the sweet looking gal who's not quite sure she's really in love with that knight in shining armor -- always with the end result of allowing the perps to feel better about their place in the world. Going about their merry way as our hero limps out of town, off on another fun adventure. Staying one step ahead of the shadow he can't seem to shake. Sound familiar? Yeah, I think you probably know this wanderer. The one who dreams of a serpent eating its own tail.. of plagues and wars and hidden races rising from the depths, who talks of great lands and sleeps in an abandoned carnival caravan, surrounded by his freak-show faithful. This troubadour with guitar at the ready, stepping on the make-shift stage to send one out to that special gal out there, the one holding his heart (handed over at a moment neither can quite remember). But she won't make it the final bar. She's got another engagement. And she hopes she's not late. Can't blame her really. But maybe you wouldn't mind dropping that bleeding heart in the passing hat on your way out. Stepping down. Walking out to that abandoned field you might remember. Climbing on the old warehouse loading dock and serenading the lonely rose. The one nobody could agree on. The optimist thinking it a sign of hope and the pessimist thinking it a sign of our futility. They never did see eye to eye. Do you remember that one? Seems so long ago. A lot has happened since then. Slings and arrows and worried advice. You might find yourself feeling sorry at times. Big mistake. We all knew what we were getting into. All along. Yeah, you gotta watch this fellow. His looks are deceiving. When you get really close the eyes that looked so inviting before now seem a little menacing. And that smile doesn't settle as nicely. Looking a bit exhausted all of a sudden, with the wild stare of someone who's got nothing to lose. Coming soon to a town near you. Be sure to catch him. Riding out of the sunset... Who was that unmasked man? ------------------------------
