Folded Thought of the Day:


It's become quite the poetic gathering.  You can even find the 
notices in the weekend section.  With write-ups by the watchful 
eyes of our younger generation.  They never miss a beat.

But don't think you can just show up.  There are prices to pay to 
be part of this newfangled side show.  Gotta bring something of 
value that you can surrender at the door.  It's all part of the 
big fund drive.  Think of it as a donation...a symbol of good 
will that they'll be redistributing at some later date.

The needy will always be needy.  No rush.  Best to gather a little 
momentum.  Let the interest grow a bit.  The quarterly reports 
have been published and we all know that there will be plenty to 
go around come year end.  Just in time for the holidays.

So you arrive, looking so full of yourself.  Yeah, you're quite 
the clever fella.  Or gal.  With your notebook full of cogent 
anecdotes and misanthropic meanderings.  You've done your homework.  
You know what all the eager ears are longing for.  But you didn't 
count on this crowd.  Nope. Things have changed a bit since the 
last media blitz.

And things just so happen to be heating up.  Really, what did you 
expect on a hot August night.  None of that Neal Diamond resurrection 
rap is going to play around here.  You've seen too many movies.  
And it shows.

So take a seat.  And do your best to keep an open mind.  You could 
learn something.  Should you be so inclined.  And if it gets a little 
too strange then the exits are well marked.  But you've got to be 
careful.  The longer you go along for the ride, the farther you've 
got to fall.  Simple physics.

Not that anybody is looking to scare you.  It's just that the last 
wave took its toll and certain principles of applied learning are 
being practiced.  And nobody's going to take any guff tonight.  But 
you're more than welcome to join in the fray.  Be careful though...
my guess is that you've got a lesson or two to learn about the fine 
art of fighting dirty.  

You didn't think you were dealing with a bunch of amateurs?  Now, 
did you?  Oh yes...the decks have all been well marked and the 
stakes just went up.
