Folded Thought of the Day: The great escape is on. Word from the tower is that certain keepers of the gate will be turning their backs when the hour is struck. Who would have wanted to stick around here anyway? What with all the winds of change that blow through the exercise yard (stationary bikes being the weapon of choice). Enough to make your average go-getter turn their head. Once or twice. Yeah, well, don't expend a lot of energy shedding tears for those left behind...doing their time with the best of them. And besides, there's only so far you can run...before you realize that the nightmare you're escaping is inside you. Not the best thought as you try to catch your breath. But soon enough you'll be focusing on the recently-released hounds. They can smell you a mile away. So you might want to look around for a little fresh meat you can toss their way. Good luck with that. And meanwhile, back inside the gates, the party is just getting interesting -- the kind of invitation-only affair that is so popular with this younger generation. The band just kicked in with their first set, cutting through the rising tension and bringing the crowd to a frenzy. The chorus of disapproval and regret pumping out the speakers. "Repent" being repeated at full volume. But the revelers respond by dancing that much harder. Won't be a safe place to hide before long. All our resources are being rapidly exhausted. And the sky that was once so big seems to have depleted. Can't count on nothing these days. Especially all those promises that were whispered and written on secret pages. They sounded so sincere at the time -- a vision of the future that turned out to be just another come-on line. And who's this walking on the stage, gathering the attention of the odd party patron? He looks familiar. But he gets that a lot. Leaving a trail of blood behind him, he's now approaching the center of the stage. Looks like the band was just a warm-up act. And the real fun is about to begin. And judging by the look in this fellow's eyes, you might want to grab hold of something that's been nailed down... ------------------------
