Folded Thought of the Day:


I'm planning my collection of self-help, positivity, healing and 
deep peace audio books -- as read by my co-worker Jeremy, who does 
a mean impression of what we all imagine Galileo sounded like.  

I'd like to give you a sample.  First you must lie back and 
close your eyes...uh, that won't work, as you do need to read 
this.  Maybe you can print it out and have a co-worker of your 
own read it for you.  

Imagine a melodic piano score, slow and lilting, with lines 
leading to lines, falling into and moving with each other like 
a beautiful field of golden wheat.  Add some Celtic pipes, a 
little chanting, African drums and a few whale sounds and were 
on the way.  

You're drifting among the clouds, leaving your cares behind.  
Work can wait -- after all, you've got your email synced with 
your PDA, which is linked to your cell phone -- so all will 
be fine as you join me on this journey of self-awareness and 
harmony.

Yes, you are flying free (Wait, what's that beeping?  C'mon, 
turn that pager off, we're actualizing here.  Gee golly.) 

Whoa, we're free falling now.  Concentrate, let go of those 
heavy thoughts.  And be quick about it, before we're kissing 
pavement.  Okay okay, we're stabilized and gaining altitude.  
Good...good, now keep your head in the game buddy.  

Take a good look at the earth as it moves beneath you.  Do you 
see how different it looks?  You see a lot of lights and 
billboards and power lines and cars and hoards of people moving 
here and there but...well, just be thankful you're not down 
there right now.  Sure, you'll be back in the shuffle soon, and 
for the rest of your life, but we here to add a little perspective.  

We need to focus on the positive things in life.  The little 
things that make it all worthwhile.  Like rationalization, self 
pity and lessers of all evils...and chocolate brownies fresh 
from the box.  And don't forget about those new VW Beetles with 
the cool colors -- we no longer have to go in to a dealership 
and order a white car, now we can go online and order one of 
the few remaining "Vapor" models.  Feeling better yet?  

Yes, let's be positive.  Picture the remaining rain forests...and 
our constant celebration of multi-culturalism, and of having the 
wisdom to reserve land for the great people that inhabited this 
continent before it was "discovered."  

Now we're floating above a great field filled with glorious stones.  
Yes, it's beautiful.  The field seems to go on forever...and the 
stones are piled higher and higher.  And right at the center 
you can see a little shack.  And now we drift down and knock on 
the door of the shack.  And a little old man is there, and he's 
happy to have a visitor, cause he's lonely -- working all day 
long carving letters and numbers into the stones and placing 
them in the field. 

And the old man takes you by the hand.  And walks with you 
through the field.  And you see all the stones up close, with 
their names and dates inscripted.  

Don't forget the music, cause it'll be pretty powerful right 
here.  That chanting will really kick in and the drums will 
be beating with your heart and a choir might begin to sing.  
You get out of it what you bring in to it.
